Do puppies remember their siblings?

After a few weeks of settling into my new home, my humans decided it was time for a Shiba Inu sibling reunion. Both my sister and brother lived not too far from Uppsala, so one day we took the train to Stockholm to visit my sister, Zoey. I loved the train ride—gazing out the window and meeting new people who all thought I was the cutest dog ever (and they were right!).

We finally arrived at the dog park in Stockholm where we had planned to meet Zoey’s mom. To my surprise, I had already grown bigger and fluffier than Zoey! I don’t think she liked that very much, but what can you do when you’re this cute? Haters gonna hate!

I’m not usually an extrovert and typically prefer to sit and observe rather than play with other dogs. But when I saw my sister Zoey, I got so excited that I couldn’t help myself—I started running after her and playing just like the other dogs. There’s something about her scent that feels familiar, and as soon as I got close, I knew it was her. Zoey was a little bit standoffish; I guess she wasn’t thrilled that my fur looked better than hers!

Later, we moved to Stockholm, and I got to visit Zoey more often. Every time we got together, we ignored all the other dogs and just played by ourselves.

I reunited with my brother Obbie one year after we were separated as puppies. Back then, he was the biggest of our litter and was chosen by a couple who wanted him for dog shows. I always assumed he’d grow up to be much bigger than me. But when we finally met again, our humans were surprised to see that I had grown bigger and stronger than Obbie! I wish I had a photo of that moment. Obbie was even a little scared of me and ran away when I tried to play rough.

Sorry, bro… but not sorry!
